Kansas
City Peterbilt was founded in 1975 by R. Dean Edwards who operated the
dealership at 1212 North Third Street, Kansas City, Kansas. The
original facility consisted of a 25,000 square foot building on 5 acres.
Leon
C. Geis purchased the dealership in 1987 and immediately began
expanding sales and services. Kansas City Peterbilt, Inc. opened a
dealership in Sedalia, Missouri, in 1993 and Olathe, Kansas in 1995 to
accommodate the ever-increasing growth of the company.
In 1997,
the 19-acre site for the new dealership facility was acquired and
construction began on the present 65,000 square foot facility at 8915
Woodend Road. The facility, completed in November 1998, consists of a
4,000 square foot open parts display, a unique interior new truck
display with a walk in pit for undercarriage viewing, and a comfortable
driver's lounge with all of the comforts of home. The 15,000 square
foot 16 bay service department contains a diesel exhaust containment
system, a quick lube pit, and a par dynamometer. The 22,000 square foot
21 bay body shop has a state of the art down draft paint booth, a
front-end alignment frame/axle rack, and a 5-ton overhead hoist. Both
shops are completely heated by waste oil burners. There is plenty of
room to maneuver outside as the facility is surrounded by 5 acres of
concrete. The new facility is the class of the industry and is often
used as a model by others who are looking to expand or build new
dealerships. |
